Imtiaz Ali’s cinematic gem, Main Vaapas Aaunga, which graced the silver screen on June 12, has surpassed expectations by raking in over ₹25 crore, despite its somewhat shaky start. This riveting tale, starring the legendary Naseeruddin Shah alongside Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari, and Vedang Raina, has captured the hearts of audiences, thanks to a powerful wave of positive word-of-mouth.

Remarkably, the film has maintained its momentum, defying predictions of a second Monday slump, and even outperforming the previous Monday’s earnings. According to the trade website Sacnilk, Main Vaapas Aaunga garnered ₹2.12 crore net on its second Monday in India, elevating its domestic box office collection to a robust ₹26.37 crore. Notably, it had initially pulled in ₹1.15 crore on its first Monday following a ₹1.15 crore opening day.

The film enjoyed a lucrative opening week, amassing ₹12.25 crore. Its second weekend saw even greater success, with collections of ₹1.90 crore on Friday, ₹4.35 crore on Saturday, and a striking ₹5.75 crore on Sunday, surpassing the initial weekend’s totals. Released alongside a slew of other titles, such as Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past, and Governor, Main Vaapas Aaunga has proven its mettle while others fell by the wayside.
