On a recent episode of Hauterrfly’s The Male Feminist, actress Shubhangi Atre offered a candid peek behind the curtain, shedding light on the intense demands she faced while working on Ekta Kapoor’s iconic shows.
Relentless Hours on Kasturi
Shubhangi reminisced about a particularly exhausting stint, describing how she tirelessly inhabited the world of Kasturi for six days straight as the show’s leading lady. “Working with Balaji meant days that blurred together,” she recounted. “There were times I wouldn’t get to pack up for three days. On Kasturi, I was in every frame as if the show was airing on the 24th and I was cast on the 21st.”
She shared how the casting was a whirlwind, filled with substitution after substitution, with Ekta Kapoor unsatisfied until she found the perfect fit. Shubhangi even admitted to initially declining the role. “I was already engulfed in Kausauti Zindagi Kay when Abhishek came saying Ekta Ma’am was calling. I was hesitant, working day and night on one show was enough. But he insisted, ‘You can’t say no to Ekta Ma’am.’ That moment turned out to be a pivotal point in my career,” she reflected.
The Story of Kasturi
The 2007 series featured Shubhangi alongside Karan Patel, weaving the tale of Kasturi, a determined young woman whose life spirals into a whirlwind of love, misunderstandings, and betrayal upon meeting the affluent Robbie. Their dynamic captured hearts, leading the show to become a beloved hit of its era. After two and a half years of enthralling tales, the series wrapped up in 2009.
Shubhangi’s Continued Success
Shubhangi’s journey didn’t stop there. She delighted audiences as Angoori in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! for an impressive nine years, a role taken over by Shilpa Shinde in 2025. Her career continues to be a testament to her dedication and passion for the craft.
