The latest iteration of Samsung’s One UI 9 on the Galaxy Z Fold8 series introduces improved functionalities in Smart Switch, making device transition more efficient. The Quick Share feature has been upgraded, enhancing cross-platform file sharing capabilities.
Initiate Transfer with a QR Code
With One UI 9, users can initiate data transfer by simply scanning a QR code on their new Galaxy device, eliminating the need to install Smart Switch on their iOS device. This update also supports wireless connections, negating the need for physical cables or adapters.
Expanded Data Transfer Capabilities
The Smart Switch app under One UI 9 now supports a broader range of data transfer from iOS devices to Galaxy. Alongside traditional data such as photos and contacts, users can now transfer passwords, passkeys, call history, accessibility settings, and eSIM information. This development ensures a smoother transition by retaining user settings and preferences, thereby minimizing setup time for new devices.
Customization for Familiarity
Users transitioning to the Galaxy Z Fold8 series can customize their new devices to mirror familiar settings from their previous phones. Apart from data transfer, key settings such as swipe gestures and home screen layouts can be adjusted. The Good Lock app further allows personalization of the home screen and app-switching interfaces, facilitating an easier adaptation to the new device.
